BMAPEI 4th annual Baie Verte
winefest and meal at the Schnitzel Haus
Sunday August 8th
Meeting places:
PEI cars: at Gateway Village, the first
parking lot on the right as you
enter the village at 12.30. N.B and N.S cars who wish to meet us en route:
the on ramp to the Trans Canada of Route 955 (exit 47), the nearest one to
the Bridge at 1 pm (Murray Corner?)
We plan to arrive at the Winegarden Estate
winery about 1.15. The
winery is located on Route 970 (Tidnish Road) and is well sign posted from
both the Trans Canada and Route 66 in Nova Scotia.
The Winegarden winery is a family operation run by Frau and Herr
Ziegler, plus daughter etc. For this open house as in the previous four,
they
have invited other micro-wineries, so that there will be lots of choice
for the tasting. The process the last three years has been you
purchased 5
tickets and a large shot glass for $5. That entitles you to 5
samplings.
There will be music, a brass band and other entertainers, lots of
food and is an enjoyable way to spend part of the afternoon. Last year
they
had over 1,000 people so this is a popular event and not to be missed.
Don't eat too much as at 3.30 we will leave the winery for a meal at the
Schnitzel Haus in Aulac. The comment by a participant from last year
was, we had an absolutely wonderful meal - absolutely excellent but way
too much (hard to believe but I left something on my plate!)'. After the
meal the event comes to an end and we all head home in our
respective directions.
If you wish to participate in the event please let me know and how
many people you will be bringing so we can book appropriate tables in the
restaurant.

I
couldn't imagine a better day than yesterday for our "Run to the East"
event. Thanks to Richard and Cherie for organizing it and leading us
through the maze of Island roads. Very interesting route!
A
great turnout starting with Jim and Nancy Supler,Bill and Elizabeth Glenn,
Alan & Gabe Bentley, Ken & Marilyn Roper, Keith & Rita Richardson, Richard
& Cherie Veniot, Chris and Karen Slater, Bob & Sandy Bentley for breakfast
at Smitty's. We were joined by Chris Spenceley and Dan Tweel in their
respective cars as breakfast wound down and we headed east. The steep cost
of entry to the National Park changed our route somewhat but eventually we
arrived at Rosignal Winery for a tour and tasting. Along the route we
picked up Kevin and Dale Atkinson in their 78 MGB and at Rosignol's Gord
Mac Donald joined us in his Midget Our numbers were swelling. Falling a
bit behind schedule due to the fabulous time at Rosignal's we headed
towards Montague and took our outside tables at the Windows on the Water
cafe. A memorable meal, great company and we parted for home around 3:30
PM.
I
don't believe that we had a British car problem or incident (save for one
white MGB that had a persistent miss at low speed but even that performed
better as the day went on)

Once again thanks to everyone for turning out. On the car side, it was one
Rolls Royce, one Jaguar, 5 MGB's,three Midget's, one Tr 3, and one Tr 6.

We had a very
successful electrical tech session
on Saturday. Despite the urge to stay outdoors in the very hot
weather! Here Peter Norton is seen practicing newly learned skills as
he attempts to trace down a what was first thought to be an electrical
leakage problem. It was later determined to be a charging problem stemming
from his control box.

Thanks to everyone
who turned out and to Peter Noakes, Richard Veniot for organizing and to
Cliff Murray for the instruction.
