Competitive Changes New for 2004 British Car Days Across the
Bridge
In the
2004 British Car and Motorcycle Show, we are introducing two new
features related to the judging of vehicles.
Not all
registrants may wish to be have their vehicles entered in the
judging which takes place Saturday afternoon. They will now have
the option of only showing their vehicle to the general public.
Vehicles not entered for judging will still be on display as
always, they will just not be visited by the judges. This will
take some pressure off the judges who have had to examine all
cars in their judging class, even if the owner was not seriously
interested in competitive judging. Any owner not wanting to have
his/her vehicle entered should indicate so on the registration
form. If already registered, an e-mail notice of same should be
sent to Chris
Spenceley, or let the person know when picking up
registration materials when arriving at the show.
Secondly, a new prestigious category of recognition has been
created for the coming year called the Concours
d'Elegance Awards. Entrance in this class will be
voluntary and separate from the regular judging classes.
Vehicles entered in this class will not be judged for the
regular class awards. It will include all makes and models in
one win, place, and show competition. Owners of vehicles that
have won in their class the previous year are encouraged to
enter this new competition.
For this
year there will no difference in the registration fee if a
vehicle is not entered for judging or if it is entered in the Concours
d'Elegance competition.
New
Locations
Our
closing celebration on Sunday will take place this year at
Confederation Centre in historic
Charlottetown to celebrate the 40th
anniversary of the Confederation Centre and the 140th anniversary of
the meeting of the Fathers of Confederation in Charlottetown. Our
police escorted convoy will again be the mode of transportation.
Opening
Ceremony
Once
more we will feature pipers from the
College of Piping and
dignitaries to open our event under the bigger tent that will be
available for participants to escape the inevitable sun!
Harry
Stevens Memorial Trophy
We
remember our friend and British car and motorcycle enthusiast, the
late Harry Stevens who passed away in 2003 with a special award in
his name.
Forget
the Camera
Our
friend and professional photographer
Alain Boily has once again
booked the weekend to capture all activities on CD Rom. A camera is
one less thing to pack in the open top. |
